Upscaling Homemade Products

Bone Appetit is owned by local dog lovers Debbie and Jim Doherty, who have been providing homemade, limited-ingredient, nutritious dog treats to the Springfield area for nearly a decade now. Their home-grown brand needed a refresh as the demand for their products continues to grow. We built a brand to feel right at home in both the farmers markets Bone Appetit started out in and the brick and mortars they’re venturing into. Debbie and Jim are all about self-sustainability, so a custom Squarespace site gives them a visual and SEO-centered refresh with the independence to update content as they grow.

With treats rooted in simplicity and human-grade ingredients, we focused on what’s really important: the people and the product (and the pups, duh). With a complete website redesign ahead of us, we knew the best approach would be to get a solid foundation of images to build upon. Our approach to Bone Appetit’s product photography highlights the whole-food, nourishing ingredients baked into every treat, while team photos bring us back to the happy, healthy dogs at the core of their mission.

Branding

Branding

Branding

In our first conversations with Debbie and Jim, they noted how important it was for their brand to continue to honor their late dogs, Izzy and Abby. In this logo evolution, these two friends were brought closer together, both to honor their friendship and unify them as a distinguishable mark. With such a bold orange to pull from their existing identity, the rest of the palette grounds itself in natural tones to make this brand stand out among local and national competitors.

As their market expands, the increasing need to sell online meant a more navigable and useable site was a top priority for Bone Appetit’s continued growth, and was the ultimate goal for their refreshed brand. In addition to a more premium and user-focused design, the site has boosted SEO across a number of key searches.

"This summer we had the opportunity at Bone Appetit Dog Bones to work with the team at Kidsister. It was our first experience working with an advertising agency.
We had a phenomenal experience with them. They created a new updated, fresh, fun, easy to navigate, professional website for us. They got to know us and our business before starting.

Everything from daily communication, photography, and the designs were professional.  We highly recommend them for any form of advertising you might need. We will use them again in the future."
